Professor Per-Olof Berggren had his basic training in medicine at the
University of Umea and Uppsala in Sweden. During 1974-1982 he was a research
fellow at the Department of Medical Cell Biology, University of Uppsala. During
1979-1982 he had a doctoral fellowship from the Medical Faculty of Uppsala University.
He received his Ph.D. in Medical Cell Biology in 1982 at the University of Uppsala.
During 1983-1986 he had a post-doctoral fellowship from the Swedish Medical Research
Council. He became Associate Professor in Medical Cell Biology in 1985. During
1986-1990 he was a research assistant in Medical Cell Biology at the University of
Uppsala. During 1990-1996 he was a researcher in Clinical Diabetology, the Swedish
Medical Research Council and during 1997-01-01 - 06-30 Professor in Cell Physiology,
speciality Experimental Diabetes Research, Lund University. From 1997-0701
Professor in Experimental Endocrinology, Department of Molecular Medicine,
