Lee W. Wattenberg, Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Minnesota Medical School, Minnesota, U. S. A.

Called the "Father of Chemoprevention", Prof. Wattenberg has carried out numerous studies of cancer prevention by naturally occurring compounds. He has served in many scientific organizations and has been a member of the Board of Directors and later president of the American Association for Cancer Research. Prof. Wattenberg has published numerous papers and book-chapters. He received many awards for his contribution to cancer research and frequently has been sought after as a speaker at scientific events.


A.K.M. Shamsuddin, M.D., Professor of Pathology, The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland 21201-1116, USA

Prof. Abul Kalam M. Shamsuddin graduated from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh in 1972. He received residency training in Pathology and Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He joined the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Maryland as an Instructor in 1977 and rose through the ranks of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor to become a full Professor in 1988. Prof. Shamsuddin has been studying carcinogenesis, tumor marker and cancer prevention for nearly 25 years. He has done the pioneering experiments demonstrating the anti-cancer action of inositol and IP6 against a variety of cancers. He is also the inventor of a simple cancer screening test. Aside from the books Diagnostic Assays for Colon Cancer (CRC Press 1991) and IP6: Nature's Revolutionary Cancer Fighter (Kensington 1998), he has published numerous book-chapters and peer- reviewed scientific papers.



Zhang, Zhenshu M. D. Associate Professor and Vice Director, Department of Gastroenterology, Nanfang Hospital, Guangzhou 510515, P. R. China


Dr. Zhang, Zhenshu graduated from the Guangzhou University of Medicine in 1978, received Master of Medicine and Doctor of Medicine from the First Military Medical University, Guangzhou in 1986 and 1992, respectively. He has been Associate Professor and Vice Director, Department of Gastroenterology, Nanfang Hospital of the First Military Medical University, Guangzhou since 1992. His research interest has been prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the digestive system, particularly liver cancer and colon cancer. In addition to 2 books, he has published many scientific papers.


Masao Hirose M.D., Ph.D., Chief, Division of Pathology, Biological Safety Research Center, National Institute of Health Sciences, Tokyo, Japan

Dr. Masao Hirose graduated from Nagoya City University, Medical School on 1973 and received Ph.D. from Nagoya City University on 1979. He worked at Koseiin Hospital from 1979 to 1981, then returned to the University as an assistant professor. From 1982 to 1984 he worked at Michigan Cancer Foundation as a visiting scientist. On 1984 he moved to Nagoya Higashi Municipal Hospital and worked for human pathology as well as experimental pathology. On 1995 he moved to First Department of Pathology, Nagoya City University as an associate professor. On 1998, he has been promoted to Chief, Division of Pathology, Biological Safety Research Center, National Institute of Health Sciences. He specializes in environmental carcinogenesis, and found many carcinogens, promoters and chemopreventive agents. He has published more than 200 of original and review papers, and book chapters.
