Technical guidance in industrial high school

Every year, TSUNO send a technician to Wakayama industrial high school to support the project that Wakayama prefecture holds to develop future industrial workforce.
TSUNO made technical guidance of how to recycle from waste oil to Bio-fuel to them 4 times in 2016.
TSUNO hopes students not only to acquire the skills but also to understand the importance of cooperation and to raise awareness of safety throughout this technical guidance.

Corporate practical course in National Institute of Technology, Wakayama College

Since 2009, TSUNO holds Corporate Practical course in National Institute of Technology, Wakayama College.
Recent years food safety is more and more recognized widely, the course is held to acknowledge students the importance of quality assurance exampling our rice bran oil.
Every year about 100 students take the course and its reputation is very useful.

Workplace experience of high school and middle school students.

TSUNO holds workplace experience days for region middle & high school students for 2~3 days every year.
“it was interesting to know actual workplace courtesy and difficulties of works” “Staff canteen ‘s meal was delicious”, students comments also makes us happy.


Culture

Cultural heritage conservation: Contribution to Koyasan 1200th anniversary

Founder Masaji Tsuno has strong feeling of gratitude and reverence to gods and Buddha
because of his experience of facing death several times during Pacific War.
The faith has been handed down to the current president.
TSUNO has made cultural heritage conservation activities such as donation for repair cost of Mt.Koya, the world heritage, and NiutsuhimeShrine.
Those contribution were recognized and we received letter of appreciation at the ceremony of 1200th anniversary by Kongobuji in Mt. Koya


Region

Potato digging experience with regional elementary school students at company farm

TSUNO operates a 1 MW solar power generation system in the mountain Kudo.
In our own farm next to it, we take place potato digging experience for elementary students.
In this experience, we explain about solar power generation system, potato digging,
cooking French fries, and tasting them.
We have started this activity hoping children to feel bounty of nature.

Factory tour for regional elementary school students

To be known what we do, we accept company visit of regional elementary schools.
As well as factory tour, we explain them our history, efficient use of rice bran and CSR activities.
We try best to explain for them to understand easily and have them recognized that we are also
a member of their town.

Provide Emergency goods shelf to local region

When a large-scale disaster such as an earthquake occurs, the idea of
“self-help assistance” more knows. The idea is to secure your own safety , help local people, and wait for public institutions to rescue.
In order to enable local residents to carry out quick relief activities in a disaster, we discuss with the local autonomous region and
provide shelf of emergency goods in a convenient place within our site.


Academic

First international symposium


The first international symposium “Disease Prevention by IP6 & other rice components” was held in Kyoto for two days in 1998 with participation more than 500 people from 17 countries. We participated it as secretariat.
A research presentation on nutritional components and their physiological activities contained in rice,
one of the world’s three largest crops, received high praise from all over the world.
Participants: 553 people(Japan: 465 people, Oversea 17countries 46people, Secretariats 36 people. Press related 6 people)
Joined countries: Japan, USA, European countries, Asian countries in total 17 countries.

Second international symposium


The second international symposium “Rice and Disease Prevention” was held in Wakayama, a hometown area of TSUNO.
TSUNO supported the symposium commemorating company’s 60th anniversary. We successfully completed the event in cooperation
with the Organizing Committee and Wakayama Prefecture.

Third international symposium


TSUNO’s 70th commemorating symposium has been taken place in Kyoto from 29th to 30th Nov 2018. This time the theme is settled as The 3rd international symposium on “Rice Science in Global Health” and TSUNO took the role as the secretariat. The theme was more broaden than 1st and 2nd symposium. The aim of this symposium is to revitalize effective use of rice and the research activities, improve the economy and the environment and lead people’s health by being a “bridge” of rice producing and eating countries. Started with discussions on the wider viewpoint like environment, economy, production surrounding of rice producing/consuming countries represents from North America, Africa and Asia. Subsequently, the latest academic research presentations and discussions were discussed by the leading experts from all over the world, covering the fields, epidemiology, disease prevention, and useful ingredients of rice. At the extended course for general public has been taken place separately on 1st Dec 2018, the effects of rice diet and rice ingredients for health are deeply discussed.

Disaster recovery assistance

Contribution to The Great East Japan Earthquake

TSUNO has send 10,000 bottles of rice bran oil (equals to 6million yen), rice, butteries and other commodities as well as
made donation to the Red Cross continuously for two years immediately after the earthquake.
The picture is provided by a company received our aid. Though this company’s materials and machinery were totally swept away by
Tsunami, all members united their mind to restart the company and built new factory after two years then begun operated again.

Send Volunteer team for Kii Peninshula Flood

For an assistance to the Kii Peninshurla Flood in Wakayama in 2011, as well as made donation, TSUNO dispatched a volunteer team and helped workload such as put mud out
of a field. The team also helped to remove soil and sand on houses and visited affected households bringing rice and oils in Nachi Katsuura-Gun and Niimiya-City.

Donation for the Taiwan Southern Earthquake

For the aid of the Taiwan Southern Earthquake, TSUNO visited Taiwan and send donation via Taiwan bank. The donation was gathered contribution from employees plus added company donation.
