In rice bran oil industry, TSUNO was the first to establish top quality control system using Near InfraRed(NIR) analysis

In edible oil manufacturing, a process management by analyzing raw materials and intermediate products is essential to produce high-quality products, and a wide analysis items including acid values, iodine values, and cloud points are used.

In usual chemical analyses, it is necessary to prepare as many samples as the number of analyses conducted. Also if each analysis requires to use for example organic solvents, it is also necessary to prepare those solvents each time.

TSUNO developed highly accurate Near InfraRed(NIR) analysis method to measure acid value, iodine value, cloud point, vitamin E group and γ-Oryzanol: the unique component to rice bran oil,  those are critical control points on the rice bran oil manufacturing.

This NIR analysis method enables to analyze those five critical control points simultaneously therefore improved efficiency of the analytical process.

Remarkably, this new method doesn’t require those samples and solvents needed in the usual analytical method so that significantly reduced wastes at the same time. Consequently,  environmentally friendly rice bran oil manufacturing has been realized.

It is an analyzer to quantify odor components. One of the most important features of rice bran oil is “odorless”, we own HERACLES to provide customers specific data of odor components to reason the feature analytically.

It is an analyzer to detect minor components or trace components in products. In order to strengthen quality control and process control, we equipped GCMS to review and detect minor/trace components of our products at any time.

GC-MSMS is an instrument operated for the analysis of complex matrices or analytes present in very low amounts. We own this instrument in order to strengthen our quality control system such as pesticide residue inspection, etc.

Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) Emission Spectrometer

It is an instrument to detect trace metals in extremely low amount even at ppm level. In order to strengthen quality control and process control, we equipped ICP Emission Spectrometer to detect trace metals of our products at any time.

It is a type of size exclusion chromatography, that separates synthesized compound on the basis of size especially the molecular weight and the size distribution. We own GPC in order to assess molecular sizes and the distribution of our oleo chemical products.

It is an analytical instrument used for separation, identification, and quantification of both unknown and known compounds as well as to elucidate the structure and chemical properties of different molecules. We own LCMS to measure components contained in rice crude oil and rice bran oil  with high sensitivity.

It is an instrument to analyze details of molecular structures with high sensitivity and accuracy. We use this instrument to acquire detailed structural information of ingredients contained in rice crude oil and rice bran oil to discover new research possibilities from the diverse information acquired.


Cell experiment laboratory at Tsuno Innovative and Welfare (TIW) center

We established our own cell experiment laboratory to conduct in vitro evaluation using cultured cells etc.  It is to quest new functionality of ingredients derived from rice bran applicable to food, cosmetics, etc. in-house.
